I’m Janelle Yu, a nurse turned artist and graphic designer.

I’m a person of diverse interests – always curious, always learning. Back then, taking up nursing was a practical choice of career in the Philippines and I spent some time working as a pediatric nurse and a pharmacovigilance associate. It was a noble job; however, I find that my heart always led me to art and design.

In 2017, I left my medical career and focused my career on art. I became a member in art groups Art Wednesdays and Grupo Kwadro alongside veteran artists here in the Philippines. I felt so happy to partake in art exhibits and art fairs. During that time, I also became active in my mental health advocacy as a creatives core in MentalHealthPH, handling the creatives team and Voices of Hope campaign, where our team share stories of people struggling with mental health problems aiming to reduce the stigma of mental illness.

In February 2018, I flew to Australia to study graphic design in Shillington College of graphic design. While I found the whole course interesting and enjoyable, I found myself enjoying web design and UI/UX the most. In my high school days, I already had a strong interest in web design and basic web development creating and designing my blog which probably explains why I naturally gravitate towards that field. My work speaks for what I’ve learned within that course.

Feel free to check out my work and send me a message if you have any queries.
